Camp Longhorn
I'm driving to Texas today to start a two week term at Camp Longhorn. I'm a counselor now, but i started as a camper almost 8 years ago and since then made some of the most amazing friends and memories ill ever have. i can truly say some of my best experiences have come from camp. Last summer i stayed for 3 terms, or 8 weeks but this summer, due to my !!internship!! I can only stay for 2 weeks.(better than nothing--)Anyway, hill country Texas is not known for its internet/telephone connection/reception so posting will probably be nonexistent.
Until then, CHEERS!

meh?
a little bit strange...when someone you see in the library everyday is suddenly on the american apparel website; but also quite hilarious. the details? he made a buck fiddy an hour and was scouted by working in the store. Guess it is true; AA does takes real people and make them into models.
taste of tribeca.
so one of my friends works at this cute little restaurant in tribeca called petite abielle (little bee in french) and this past weekend it was part of an all-day taste affair called Taste of tribeca. Petite, along with about a gagillion other restaurants made their signature dish and attendees were able to taste it all out. sydney and i got to enter for free and ended up trying theeee mosssttt amazzinngg grub. check out that molten chocolate cake! i had to snap a pic before we devoured. other highlights? pulled pork bbq sandwiches, organic raspberry sorbert and veggie lasagna, but oh wait....they disapeared quicker than you can think camera. yummmmmmmm.

My mom really is the most amazing woman in the world. No, really, I swear. Not only is she one of the smartest people I know, but she's one of the most talented and thoughtful and caring as well. She went to med school, had six, yes SIX kids, and mastered the art to fun things like log and lamb cakes, gingerbread houses and calligraphy. She's seriously wonder woman. Mom, i think your the greatest person in the whole world, and I wish i could be home in New Olreans with you today. I love you SO SO much, and appreciate everything that you do for us, everyday.
LOTS and LOTS of love,
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM, i love you.

2. Us girls decorating the traditional(and celcelia's first!) gingerbread house
3. My mom has mastered the log cake. Trust me, making shaped cakes takes some serious skill (and practice!!)
4. My mom as a little behbehhh on easter. How CUTE.
decisions, decisions.
so working in the fashion closet this summer got me thinkin about shoes (of course) and i realized that i wont be able to wear the staggering heels everyday that I've been wearing as an intern on the publishing side. too much running around! however, i refuse to give up all height. So, I've been on the look out for comfy, yet cute and stylish wedges that i could run around in this summer and walking home the other day, something in the payless window caught my eye. white wicker wedges! kind of genius, right? and so summer. they immediately reminded me of the $98 GAP wedges that bloggers like Camille have snapped up, and the much more $$$ Comme des Garcons wedges that lucky Jane owns. Never found anything much in payless that's fancied me, but i just might go back and snap these up!
whatre your thoughts? and do you have any suggestions for me? (i want height, but still comfort!)

Can you tell which ones which?
If only the bebe ones came in the nude version-i die!
American by Birth.
So as it turns out, not only is Esquire an amazing magazine, but they know how to throw some pretty amazing parties as well. This past weekend Esquire’s editor-in-chief David Granger and famed NYC restaurateur Danny Meyers threw an insane Kentucky Derby event at the award-winning Eleven Madison restaurant. Graced by nothing less than a miracle, the 10% chance of sunshine stayed faithful the entire day and it ending up being one of the most amazing and beautiful parties I’ve ever had the chance to attend—the fact that the place was swarming with cute boys in seersucker didn’t hurt either. Four special maker’s Mark Bourbon bars were stationed throughout serving Maker’s mint juleps in traditional ice-frosted silver cups. Also, legendary tobacconist Nat Sherman was on hand to transform the outside area into a sleek yet laid-back cigar lounge, complete with live Kentucky bluegrass music.
Best outfits of the day?
MALE:
He was wearing a perfectly tailored seersucker suit, cropped at the bare ankle. He wore classic white canvas converse and he topped it all off with tortoise shell ray bans and a bit of arrogant confidence. I attempted to hunt him down (to ask him about his suit) but gave up after a while because he was always surrounded!
FEMALE:
She was a knockout in head-to-toe Dior and I was mesmerized by her entire ensemble. I finally got a chance to ask, and turns out she works within the Christian Dior family and the clothes came as part of her clothing salary—a girl can dream, right?! Anyway, she was so sweet and we hit it off. Turns out her hat-more of a headband with flowers attached (think Carrie Bradshaw a la her wedding day) was a DIY project she did the day before!

Southern by the grace of God.
I started to wonder--do northerners actually dress 'southern' better? Honestly, I think maybe. They seem to take more risks, anyway. I'm loving the bare ankle. And the guy in the stripped jacket? He was wearing ripped, shredded bermuda-length white jeans. I mean, that's ballsy! But he looked great.
What're your thoughts?
*Funny I wasn't able to capture either of my favorites...but its only because I was constantly lurking after them...I was trying to be somewhat inconspicuous!

gangland
so the weather this past weekend in new york was UNREAL. ask anyone who lives here and they will tell you--it was a godsend..
saying that, i of course spent the whole day outside. Myself and a couple friends rented bikes down in battery park and rode over the Brooklyn Bridge. we seriously looked like a cracked out bike gang, but it was so fun. After crossing, we laid out in a beautiful park right on the water and lunch was fresh sandwiches and oranginas. After a couple hours we made the trek back over to Manhattan and found ourselves on south street seaport, where we proceeded to find the cutest! little sidewalk cafe with the best sangria. overall, it was an amazing day.
hope yall all had an amazing weekend as well!
summers almost here!
Jail bait
so Ava over at A & H reminded me of a swimsuit i love, but rarely wear. The one piece with a twist, "monokini", or as i like to call it, the sex piece. I fell in love back in 8th grade with this crazy hot pink and lime cut out one piece and searched for nearly two years until i found one i loved just as muchh. As soon as i saw this BCBG number i had to have it. Yet, as much as i love it--i hesitate to wear it. And when i do, i allwaayyss get stares like "what is this girl wearing? is she crazzzy?"
so what're your thoughts? do you love them? would you rock one?
(photos: 1st three victoria secret, and then my bcbg* excuse the embaressing picture...I haven't worn it but once in public)
spring shoe lust.
mark. my. words.... my first paycheck will go to a FUN amazing pair of shoes for summer.

old habits die hard.
So something pretty typical happened recently. And in this order:
1. Walking down a street in New York.
2. Woman walking towards me.
3. Stare at shoes.
4. oo0o0oo0oo0o0oo
5. Stare at shoes more.
In this particular event, i turned my head as she walked past to get a better view of the shoes from behind (red soles? crazy shaped heels? sometimes shoes are as interesting from behind as they are from the front!) Anyway, next thing i know, a bum sitting on the sidewalk who has witnessed the whole thing and clearly mistaken my shoe lust for another kind is saying "you go ahead girl!" through a laugh. Mortified at being caught, i vowed to change my ways. But the problem has only gotten worse! Working in the Hearst building, lunchtime in the cafeteria is like net-a-porter come to life! I can't help myself--seeing shoes in real life, that i've drooled over for weeks, months or even years is better than seeing a celebrity. Is that so lame? I've come to realize how crazy that sounds but its true. Like those amazing phillip lim shoes that popped up in Britney's if you seek amy music video? I'm serriiously lusting after them and would probably stop dead in my tracks if i ever saw them. My sister just got engaged and i think i'm more excited about the shoes than the dress! Do yall have any embarrassing fashion habits? Do anything crazy?
ps. the shoes pictured above (via net-a-porter) are case in point. Not exactly my style, but definitely a head turner.
